Well, I might as well tell it to you straight. Wednesday night, when Dogdad was combing JH's muzzle, he dislodged a scab we hadn't seen before, and all of a sudden blood started oozing. Mom took him to the vet yesterday morning and before we knew it, JH had his right cheek shaved and was in surgery to fix a puncture wound that had gotten infected.
He spent the night there, and Dogdad will pick him up this afternoon.
The mystery? When did it happen? Who is responsible? I guess it has to be me, as we had a bit of a skirmish about a week or so ago, but no one knew that I must have punctured my brother's cheek.
Mom has been sick to her stomach ever since we discovered JH's condition. Dogdad says, "With kids, it's always something."
No pictures, I think, because JH will be upset enough when he gets home. Pain meds. Antibiotics. Shaved cheek. E collar for two weeks...
But that's the story. I hear we may be separated for awhile so that we don't get into a typical ruckus at noises outside. Mom tried to explain the situation to me; I hope I understood.

Oh my! Me and Teka have gotten into it a time or two, but we've never had anything get infected. Good thing Dogdad was grooming or you might not have found it for a longer while. Be good when he arrives with the e-collar, Teka learned quite quickly to use it as a weapon after she had her "surgery!"
hugs to all

oh no, your poor JH, and to have to wait for the surgery. He's in our thoughts, we hope he gets better soon. We are glad your dad caught it sooner than later.

Hey pal, really sorry to hear about JH. Hope he's OK. So he's got to wear the collar of shame? I get a bit disorientated when I have to wear one and end up scraping all the paintwork by walking too close to everything. I hope you're going to be nice to him Jake! J x

Oh, poor JH! Too bad he has to wear the e(vil)-collar. Rasslin' can be dangerous sometimes. Sometimes my sissy Clover puts the smack down on me, but luckily there have not been any serious injuries yet! --Poppy
Oh dear,I am afraid we are aware of these situations ourselves as we used to get into some scuffles .We are hardy old things and don't put up with much do we!!! A+A

Oh Jake,
What a awful thing to happen to JH! At least you guys found it in time so he can be cured before it gets any worse.
Hang in there, Jake. You will get your buddy back soon.
Lots of Koobuss Kisses,
Your friend Koobie
