Well, I was sitting on Dogdad's lap this evening while he and Mom were having a conversation. Dogdad was talking about a project he is managing and said something about it needing more "analytical work."
My ears pricked up, so they said it again, "analytical work," and my ears pricked up again.
"Jakey, are you thinking about getting a technical job?"
Then Mom saw the light and whispered something to Dogdad.
Next thing I heard was Dogdad asking Mom, "So, are you going to cook Chinese tomorrow?"
"You mean in the wok?" she replied. Again my ears pricked up and they both giggled.
Finally, I got it, the joke was on me: they said "work" and I thought they said "walk" and got interested. Then they said "wok" and I got excited again.
Work, wok, walk -- funny language that English. Why can't everyone just speak Dog?

Speak Dog, Jake?
That is such a nuanced language. Takes years and years of study and devotion. It's not something a human could just pick up. There are no classes that i've ever run across.
No, DogSpeak is more of an inheritance. It's like fables and myths... they're passed down, from being to being. A human can't be expected to talk Dog ("Dawg" in some parts).
Do your best with them, Jake. That's all you can do.
Jake: Next thing you know, they will be s.p.e.l.l.i.n.g. things. Then you will know the difference between walk and wok. And my favorite word is t.r.e.a.t! See, isn't spelling fun?
We agree completely! Although we don't think that humans are smart enough to learn dog.
Well, maybe our dogmom is... cuz she knows several human languages...
(We had to say that, cuz she's sitting here watching us!)
Wuf Ya! Gomer & OPie
Hooman talk is a crazy mixed-up language! You're right- the world should speak dog language!
Love ya lots,
Maggie
Hehehe! I laughed at Gus's comment. J1 does the spelling thing to me sometimes. I'm too smart, I STILL know what she means! J x
Humans can be cruel with their silly language. They need to stick to the important words like "walk", "treat", "dinner", and "tummy rub"! And they REALLY need to get rid of that word "NO"!
o yes, english is sooo complicated! one moment mom says 'beg', then 'bang', then 'back'. what's a pup to do? tsk, tsk.
Hi Jake, I get pretty confuse sometimes too. The more they clarify, the more I believe I heard it right. Hee.
Snuggle,
Precious
My parents and their friends were having a conversation once that involved frequent use of the word "kwok." (Whatever that means. Maybe it's a name.) Every time they said it, my ears went BOING. It took them, like, five minutes to figure it out. People are so slow sometimes.

I agree Dog language would make life so simple.
Frenchie Snorts

That's a terrible trick they played on you, Jake!!
I'm sure you'll think of a way to get even!
Lots of Kobuss Kisses,
Your friend Koobie
Jake,
Dog is definitely easier to understand! But, have you ever noticed how some hoomans talk to us like we're little hooman pups or something? Now, THAT'S annoying.
Goob love,
Stanley
