Flying High Friday

The Barkalot's Heron-cam here.

In all the excitement of the World Cup, I neglected to show you what it was like to be flying high over Washington State, the Cascade Mountains, and various other interesting spots on our way home from British Columbia two weeks ago.

Here we are looking westward at one of Washington's amazing mountains. These are the Cascade Mountains and Columbia River bed.

The snow-capped mountains were breath-taking-- especially for a waterbird such as myself!!!I had to ask the engineer what these interesting patterns were. For irrigation, he said. There are lots of different patterns in other places, but these were the only ones I got to see

It's not very often that a Heron such as myself gets to fly at 37,000 feet and I enjoyed every exciting minute of it. Thank you Boyz!!

Wow! You were really at high places up there and gathered really amazing photos. We're glad, though, that you stayed in that jet ... it might've been a bit thin air for a heron used to sea level.

Us? We're breathing that sea level steamy stuff. (Moma says it's good for our complexions and to quit complaining. Plus she gave us a bit of a grooming to help cool us off.) We've been going to the beach in the evenings ... it's nice and cool. We've heard there are a few tar balls (and there are big coils of yellow booms in the bay ... ready to make a barrier to stop the surface oil if (when) it comes). We've not seen any, though, and even the sea weed has somehow gone away, so the water is nice and clear. (We don't get in it, but our two leggeds do, sometimes. In the dark. Hahahaha!)

The world is a beautiful place ... isn't it? We are all lucky pups.

Love and sweaty wags
Jake and Fergi

Lovely pictures:) And those patterns are really interesting.

So...you've really got a heron in the family now? Have you? I guess I've been away for long - all that work as the CIO and the Part-time Marketing Guru is taking its toll on my personal life:(

'wanted to thank you all for stopping over at my blog with that bowl of magic potion...and yes, thanks for the tip on gloves:)

Hey Jake and Just Harry,
we are glad you like our pictures.
So nice to know you love Indian food.mummy is a very enthusiastic cook and would have gladly invited you over for any number of lunches and dinners. so sad we stay so far apart.
our favourite non-veg preparations include tandoori-chicken,chicken sheekh kabab, mutton rogan-josh, ginger chicken.
the 1st two are sort of barbacued chicken.

vegetarian food favs are paneer butter masala, shahi paneer, palak paneer.
paneer is cottage cheese.palak is spinach and shahi paneer is a sweetish dish with lots of cachews and raisins.
you can team up these dishes with nan or tandoori roti(Indian Breads) or rice preparations like biryani or pulao.
last sunday was a totally vegetarian affair as mummy and daddy's friends are vegetarians.
we shall ask mummy to post some recipes. believe us, they are actually pretty easy.
we loved your pictures too....the snow capped mountains were just perfect from that angle...

Pawsome paw-to-graphs. We think spottted HC while we were driving North to Ohio. Thankfully we are back home in the Key West. Essex is really enjoying fence patrol.
