Well, there we were, waiting for a honk from the Air Ruby plane, when all of a sudden we heard a knock on the door. We did what we often do: start to brawl loudly over who gets to open the door. Mom, thinking it was Dogdad who had forgotten to call -- or the plane -- threw open the door. I realized it wasn't Dad or Ruby -- it was the UPS man leaving a package, and I sat down in front of the open door. JH, on the other hand, bolted out the door and disappeared from sight. Mom went to the edge of the driveway and called his name -- no JH.
Barefoot, but with her heart in her mouth, she ran inside for her shoes to go looking for him. But when she went outside a minute later, guess who came running up the street and our driveway -- why none other than the little scalawag himself. Panting. Little heart beating fast. Very pleased with himself. Certainly not aware that he could have been hit by a car, or lost. I actually kissed him when he came inside!!!
Fortunately we were still wearing our collars -- hadn't removed them for the pawty yet.
Neither of us had ever done that before. Mom was so sure it was Dad, she didn't check the way she always does before she opens the door. But at least we now know that Harry knows where he lives. Huge sigh.

Holy moley! That was a close call! Your poor mom! Did you count the new grey hairs you gave her yet?
See you at the pawty!
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
Um, let's review this. Ok, you know that JH knows where he lives. Your mother is still having palpitations, her hair has a solid white streak along the part, and you guys have been grounded for life. I'd say there must be more controlled ways to find out if JH is acclimated to your neighborhood.
You guys behave or I will come and bite butt.
oh yeah, we are so, so glad JH made it back. But muzzer has this tendency to scold first and then hug, you gotta live through the first before you get to the second.

Not THAT is scawie!!! JH should know better. OK, I'll be there soon to get you!
Lots of Licks, Ruby
WOW!! What's going on with JH? Do you think he's in love? Well, at least he knows his way home and came back real quick.
When my Uncle Koobus II got out of the house, he would run around the neighborbood for three hours or more. He wouldn't come back on his own. You had to catch him, and that was never easy. You could not catch him the same way twice, since he remembered every way he was ever caught and would not fall for that method again. So you always had to think of new ways to catch him. That got harder and harder because you ran out of ideas and he just ran by you and laughed. He was a bad boy sometimes. I don't do that. At least, not yet. They say that's a guy thing and girl dogs just like to stay close to the house, where the treats are.
Koobuss Kisses,
Koobie

Oh my Dog,Pl2"s heart is in her throat just reading that! Now listen up JH cut that out! An easier way to do this is wait till they go to bed take the car keys and cruise around..they won't know a thing.PS We also go NUTS when the door bell rings!!(despite all that stupid training) Love partners in crime A+A
OH NO, I am so glad Harry came back, but how incredibly scary for you and mommy. I think my mommy would have been in tears if that was me.
Make sure you give him lots and lots more kisses and hugs.

Harry!
Has your mama recovered yet from your solo trip around the neighborhood? Scarie stuff. Give her some goober hugs from me.
Jake, I'm glad you look at the bright side of things. Now you know you truly love Harry, and yes, you know that he can find his way back home. Both of those are good things to know about your bro!
Goober love,
Stanley
