Sunday Sun

We know many of you are still snowbound, without power, feeling cabin fever -- so we thought it might be encouraging to see a bit of sunlit green and remember that Spring is just around the corner -- somebody's corner, not sure just whose though.

Here in South Florida, it's still chilly (for us), but since the sky was a bright blue and the sun shining yesterday afternoon, Mom agreed it was time for a little photoshoot. So we all went out on the patio, with a bit of red wine ... Now don't get any wrong ideas. We're not really lap dogs. We're terriers. But those chairs are too high for us to reach, so the folks took pity on us and lifted us to where the action was. Honest. Not lap dogs. Terriers. From our kinda' comfy lap perches though, we had a good view of the fox tail palm that Dogdad planted in honor of Jakey back in 2003. It took a hit from Wilma in 2005 -- but it has recovered and continues its skyward march. On the other side of the patio, some of the greenery and plants have survived the unusual cold of a few weeks ago...
But, sadly, one of Mom's favorite plants -- a ginger with bright red flowes -- that she's had since before Dogdad and us --decided enough was enough. And the mussenda -- the plant with beautiful white flowers -- seems to have given up too.
Ah, but then we heard noises and had to get down from our heights to do one of the things we do best: PROTECT THE PERIMETER!

When we were reassured that all was safe, we told the folks we were ready to go back inside.

The afternoon sun still reached us -- Jakey on his favorite bench and me, as always, on my sacred mission TO PROTECT THE FAMILY!

Lest some of you are wondering about my situation as canina non grata, and my quest for employment elsewhere -- I have received several very interesting offers: Scotland. Boston. An estate with a beautiful pink barn. Mayemphis. Mexico, Switzerland, England.
When Mom read all the replies and learned how many others get awakened regularly in the wee hours of the morning -- she and Dogdad had a long conversation about how fortunate they were that, however piercing/ear-shattering my bark, I had awakened them only once or twice before dawn in five years* -- and that perhaps they should rethink the situation. In the past week, things seem to have quieted down -- and only once did I feel the need to sit on the dressing room/bathroom floor for an hour -- listening. Listening for sounds that apparently only I can hear.
But please, dear friends, keep those job offers open -- you never know!!
Wirey love from Jake and me!
Just Harry
* Full disclosure forces me to admit that I awaken them after dawn quite regularly when the neighbor's little white dog whom I seem to detest goes for her morning stroll. But that's another story.

PUH-LEEEESE send us some warm sunshine. Swede William is looking for a chance to sneak out. Something about heading south, picking up Teka on the way and letting the humpfest begin.

That red wine is always a sure sign that things are going to mellow back. Great perimeter guarding technique.

Hmmm...we are glad that your DogMom and DogDad are becoming more reconciled to your barking. If it ever gets to the job hunt point again, we know the spot here is still open.

We have lost a number of plants here in Mayemphis.

Please tell your DogMom that the Mussenda may come back. Check the book, we had those in Mayemphis and in the unlikely event of a freeze (only a couple in 30+ years) muzzer thinks they cut them back down almost to the ground and the mussenda Azrizonas came popping back up.

Hey boyz you are lucky having your very own pee tree. Took the opportunity to have a good sniff of your tails going skywards too (while Mom was looking longingly at the wine being drunk outside). Our spring must be here as it's been raining every day now instead of snowing.

Wiry love Eric x

Hey Jake and Harry,

You boys' mom has the right idea... photo shoot with red wine. I would have tried to drink the wine had I been in MY mom's lap. I'll teach you that trick sometime, okay?

It's still chilly here in MS, but we enjoyed the sunshine yesterday too.

Thanks for stopping by to visit. Yep, we have to sit for EVERYTHING too... even for to walk through a stupid doorway... sheesh! I would just rather lie down than sit. me fur mom is getting that whole sit before you get ANYTHING thing too. Me mom says nothing in life is free.

What a lovely post - starting with the red wine!
That so got our mum in the mood for Spring.
Drinking wine in the garden is a sure sign.
Sorry about some of the plants not making it into 2010 - always sad when they have been with you for a while.
Our mum loves her plants although we are happy to pee on them.
Good work boys with the perimeter patrol - guard dogs of the highest calibre.
We will keep the job opportunity open in Scotland just in case.
Sorry we are late commenting - we just can't get the staff these days.

Love all your photos and you have a beautiful yard to hang around.

My moomie tries to make me into a lap dog, too. Don't worry, me was fooled by that photo of you in your daady's lap. We could see you didn't want to be there.

What a lovely day on the patio. Remember it is our job to awaken the poor pitiful humans. They do not have anywhere the hearing that we do and we are saving them from a terrible situation. Keep up the good work.

Typing this comment while watching a blizzard rage outside my deck doors. Oh we cannot wait for Spring and longer sunshine. Right now the dogs gather in the sunny carpet area to soak it up. Pretty soon they will be able to soak it up on the warm Trex deck. I must say, Trex really gets to be nice and toasty on your feet or paws!!

Sorry about your plants that did not make it... xoxoxo

Thanks for sharing the photos with us on your day out on the patio...you boys sure look cool! *grins* And I don't think that being on a human's lap makes you a lap dog...seriously! I do that all the time too, and nobody has called me a lap dog..yet. heh!
