We had a really exciting morning! Dogdad took us out on the golf course for an early morning run -- and we saw a very large turtle, his head out, enjoying the quiet. When we approached, he looked around and said "holy sh--!!" and pulled his head back in. We really wanted to take him home to Mom as a Mother's Day present -- but Dogdad persuaded us that it was not a good idea.
When we got home though and excitedly told Mom what had happened, she said, "Let's go see if we can at least get a photo." So we all piled into the car and went back to where the turtle had been -- but he was gone. We looked and looked. And sniffed and sniffed -- but to no avail.
On the way back, we did see our pal, Sunny Jim, an Italian greyhound who lives down the street. He has the coldest black nose you can imagine, and our morning greetings are never complete until we get to feel it you know where...Anyway, instead of the almost turtle, we decided to snap a few photos of Mom's favorite flowers, most of which had blossomed seemingly over night as if just to celebrate the day.
Orange Mexican vine covering a fence near the golf course.
Agapanthus, which pops up every once in a while in our back yard.
Yellow vine which covers our arbor.
Mussenda, Mom's very favorite, which has delayed and delayed and delayed but finally decided to favor us with a flower.
And a bird of paradise -- which blogger refused to upload right-side-up. Go figure.
So let this array of flowers say Happy Mother's Day to all our moms -- and you too, Amber!!!

Pee ess: Remember to look for our Heron-cam's reports the next few days -- and listen for our loud -- very loud -- barks from camp!!!

Hi Guys
Sorry about the turtle - do you think it was something you said?
Why does Dogdad not go walks with a camera phone at least - does he not know that we dog bloggers need to be prepared?
Anyways we liked meeting your friend the greyhound instead - possibly the exact opposite of a turtle!
The flowers are gorgeous - we particularly like the birds of paradise even upside down.
lots of love
Martha & Bailey xx

Happy every day to you guys' most wonderful Mom!!!
We bet Mr. Turtle hightailed it out of there (well, hightailed in turtle speed) after your formidable terrierist selves left, quaking in fear.

Sounds like you had a pawsome Mutters Day. We were so hoping to see the turtle. I guess having two WFT around must have left him a little shell shocked. BOL

That was one fast moving turtle!!
I don't understand why Dad thought it wouldn't be a great Mom's Day present?????!
