Heron-cam report: I saw them! They were eating oysters!

Well it seems that, even though the weather in Northwest Florida is unusually chilly, our pal, the intrepid Heron-cam, decided to make the flight and check out what the folks were doing. (Having been unemployed for a while, he jumped at the chance!)

So guess what we learned from him: Business, schmissness. They weren't at meetings. They weren't working at their computers. Do you know what they were doing? After driving all day, they were eating oysters!!! Dozens of Apalachicola oysters. Mom says Yum! Dogdad says Yum! We say Yuck! (Heron-cam says, Not too bad at all!!)

Yep, here, for your very own eyes, is incontrovertible proof. (Also, we might add, notice that the very first photos taken with the new camera were not of yours trulies!!! How sad is that?)

While the folks were eating those oysters, Heron-cam checked out some of the local bird population: pelicans, gulls, and a bunch of small brown birds roosting for the night in a tree by the waterfront.

After dinner, the folks continued on to Panama City, but were too late to catch the sunset. In the morning, though, they found beautiful St Andrew Bay at their door -- which leads into the Gulf of Mexico.
More later from our pal the Heron-cam as long as he doesn't freeze his feathers off. (Pretty cool camera, no?)
But since this is still our blog, after all, here we are just so you won't forget what we look like. And we've learned that some of our pals are springing us from camp this Friday so we can go to the Hallowe'en pawty. We figured out how to sneak out and we'll be waiting!!
WOOF Y'ALL!!!

Hey pals, I hope you're having fun while your humans are slurping oysters. It's a good job you've got heron-cam to spy on them. Who knows WHAT they'd get up to!

PS I noticed that J1 has left a sneaky comment in your chatbox. The nerve!

OK. I think I would pee on that camera when it comes home. That is not fair. You two are far more photogenic than oysters.

Enjoyed your post.

As for travel, both of us travel pretty well. Dad has an SUV. Last year he got a pet barrier, because Deacon loved to stand on the center arm rest when Dad was in the middle of Miami, Atlanta, Orlando, etc. Before that Essex had the run and would frequently either curl up in the front seat or in the back.

Most people would say he is nuts, but we don't have seatbelts or sit in a cage while he is driving. A lot of people really believe in that stuff.

Dad sets up the back of the vehicle for us. One side any luggage that is not in the front seat. There is a a dog pillow or two, our blankets to snuggle in and a water bowl in the far back.

We typically stop every second or third rest stop. It excercises our legs and Dad claims it is because of all the coffee he drinks.

E-bark us (press the collie button or type keywestcollies@aol.com. We send you an email with some of the things we do on long distance trips. Dad did say he thinks Collies are laid back and handle distance rides pretty well.

Dog Speed,

Essex & Deacon

That's so cool that your parents got a new camera! It takes photos beautifully! You both look SOOO cute there...hehe!

Mom says the oysters look so yummy...I don't know if I have had any oysters before, but usually when Mom thinks it's yummy, it usually is yummy for me too! haha! Have you tried them oysters?

Hope you have a great day!

What are your parents doing? We can see from the pictures that they are not doing what they left you to do, but then I could be wrong. Maybe they are taste testing those oysters as an important study commissioned by the Government.
See you at the party.

As much as I like oysters, the fact that the camera's first shots were of them not of you two, is a disgrace...
The only consolation is that we all get know what your folks get up, to under the term 'work'!

See you @ the pawty.
