Breaking News

Last night, we overheard a conversation between our Mom and Dogdad and his Mom, who lives in St. Loulis. Every year around this time, Mom and Dogdad discuss whether they should fly or drive to St. Louilis for the Christmas holidays. And every year -- except for two years before we were born -- they decide to fly and off we go to spend the holidays with our favorite vet and his staff. We love them too, but hey, as someone was heard to say recently -- Enough is enough!!!

But last night, the conversation we overheard included the big question to our Grandma. "What do you think about our bringing Jake and Just Harry?" She knows us because she visited here for a few weeks a year or so ago. When we heard her say, "That would be fine!" we jumped for joy.

We've also seen a few e-mails between Mom and some of our pals along the way -- so our trip may include some up-close-and-pawsonal get togethers.

As far as we know, last night, Mom and Dogdad said yes to driving with us, unless they discover any flaws in their plan. And Mom said she'd research the pet-friendly accommodations along the itinerary.

Before Just Harry came along, I went on a longish car trip to North Florida, and I loved it. I did bark all night at the first place we stayed though -- the ice machine, the air conditioning, the doors closing -- and no one slept. The second night, at a different place, I slept through the night. So this time Mom will be more careful about where we stop. And Just Harry and I both love car rides. So we are ready!!!

But stay tuned!!! And keep your paws crossed that they don't change their minds!!!

That's exciting news! My mom is thinking about what to do for the holidays too.

Flying from Mobile, Alabama, to NJ is very expensive, plus she would have to board me. Last time she went away she missed me terribly. She is trying to decide whether to a) fly and board me, b) stay in Mobile for the holidays (but she's never been away from her pawrents at Christmas), or c) take a road trip with Moi!

Obviously, I am in favor of option c, especially since I have never met my dog cousins who live in NJ. And I might even see snow!

That sounds like a VERY exciting trip! It's a looooog way from Flory-duh to St. Loulis! Our pawrents used to travel with a miniature Schnauzer so they know all about the sleepless nights in a motel. There are a lot more dog-friendly motels, now, than there used to be, so you boyz should be just fine.

ohboyohboyohboy! We recommend the Drury chain, and the Radisson and Hyatts do OK, as do some of the Country Inn and Suites places. I, Gussie also like the Hilton places, my flavorite is the Crowne Plaza near E.Rabbit's house in DC. But the bestest of all is when you stay with friends. We have friends in NC who let me chase their cat:)

Don't worry Jake. They aren't going to change their humans feel bound to their word of honor. They've given you their word and there isn't the slightest chance of their backing's like a promise, you know!

I too love car-rides. They are fun, especially when they are punctuated with snack-breaks (hope the humans read this and get the message.)

Licks n Wags, and best of luck.

Thank you so much for your love and kind words. Gizmo is at peace now, but that still does not make the pain go away. Really the tears are because we loved him so much...Mum asked everyone not to leak and so did Gizmo...but she leaks...its okay though. We won't love any less..thank you again for being there.

I LOVE car rides! Even taxi cab rides. Sometimes, we'll be out for a walk and someone will have their car door open and Mommy has all she can do to stop me from jumping in their car. Behave yourselves, fellas, so they'll be SURE to take you along!
