No pictures for this, but perhaps the words will be enough to capture the scene.
I, Jake, long ago learned that the best way to get breakfast was to approach Mom or Dogdad while they themselves were eating and reading the morning newspaper, sit down in front of them, look absolutely adorable, wag my irresistible short tail, and never take my eyes off them. Invariably, one or the other will look at me, smile, and say, "Jake, are you hungry? Do you want breakfast?" I will lick my upper lip with my tongue and run towards my bowl. Just Harry has learned what that means, and so he runs to his bowl too. And breakfast is forthcoming. Occasionally I have to slap the newspaper with my paw to get their attention; but usually the penetrating look is enough.
As I have reported in the past, this also works for seconds -- but Mom seems to draw the line at thirds.
Now, Just Harry, goofball that he is, seems to have learned from me where the source of food is, and how to get it. Only his interpretation is totally off base. Instead of coming over, sitting down and looking adorable, he rushes over, barks and growls, wags his tail, and jumps up and down. If Mom says, "OK, Harold, are you hungry?" He just looks at her as if to say, "Huh? You talkin' to me?" And when no food is forthcoming, he turns away and goes off to play with a squeaky toy. I might add that his attempt is always after we've already had breakfast.
A classic Pinky and the Brain breakfast tail.

Wow...you need to do some parent training. In this house (and on the road)the doggies get bkfast first! Course, we never get seconds.
so maybe....

You know, boyz, I have an Uncle Harold. I wonder if he's related to you two goofs. Oh pardon me Jake. I didn't mean to call you a goof. Just Just Harry. Tee hee hee.

Jake!
Man, you and Just Harry are too funny... I'm sure you look very adorable when you try to get food!

We both act more like you, Jake! We've got that special look down to a science, just like you do and mom and dad can never deny us! It works every time! JH needs to get with the program!
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
I tend to bark and growl to get food too, its a bad bad habit. Mom never gives in, but Dad does!
Hi, Jake!
You have a good technique!
Maybe one day JH will have a second breakfast!
I use to howl a little and I get my food!
Kisses and hugs

Oh yes we agree with Gussie..we of course ALWAYS eat first.....Got that Harold???Tee Hee Love A+A
Foley paces at the appropriate time in our house. Sometimes he jumps straight up in the air, I twirl around and Dawson talks in some odd language. It usually gets someone to feed us.
He has a lot to learn. At least that means there is more for you.

Hehehe, you must be doing something right to get seconds. That's unheard of in this house! J x
Sounds to me like Just Harry needs to be in therapy. He obviously doesn't get it. Adorable works all the time. By now he should have figured that out. You are setting a perfect example, Jake. JH would be wise to follow it. What is wrong with him?

Wow, I will have to try that on our mother. She often is too sleepy and may not realize when I ask for seconds. I must try!
You've got your work cut out for you to teach Harold the correct way to beg for breakfast. Good luck with that. LOL

Wow, good technique guys....I think I'll paw that down fer future reference....we never get 2 helpings of anything...
Dewey Dewster here....
Hey Jake- your dogdad is very astute... Moose's mom is at the coral conference and all the preparation has left her very behind on blog reading but just now catching up. Moose would love to know how to get 2nds. He uses the beak nudge to get kibble time to come a little faster but that does not seem to work for seconds. Some times he brings his kibble ball to his mom to get a little extra right after dinner though! I bet you terriers would love a kibble ball! http://dewdana.blogspot.com/2007/06/kibble-ball.html
Sounds like Reilly in our house, he just doesn't get it sometimes! Oh well, we're just the smart ones I guess.

What a funny little guy, that Harold. Hopefully he will get the hang of it soon!

HHm Impressive Jake but you do need to do a bit more clicker training on the two leggededs and Just H too by the sound of it. I never have to ask for my breakfast but then again what are the seconds that yours give you? Though they was something to do telling the time? A puzzle for me to ponder...
Wags, eric x
Oh boy, that does it, just Harry MUST be Luciano's long lost twin!!!
wags from the whippets and the jet lagged servant
Woof, boyz
Usually it's that sweet puppy dog look that works at our house. Of course if we start drooling all over the place Mom will give us treats just so we'll leave her alone.

We always get our breakfast as soon as Mom gets up. Dad gets up first, but he makes us wait for Mom. It's something about him trying to control 3 hungry dogs while feeding 1 at a time. Penny tries to hurry up our mom by barking, but it never works.
