Will the Real Jake and Just Harry Stand Up. Please.
But what befuddles me is discovering that the Barkalots their Dogdad and I know here in South Florida may not really be who they are.
THIS??
Who knew??? It's a puzzlement!!! But we're happy they're having such a grand time -- and can only guess how they'll be celebrating Gabbi's birthday on the July 3rd...Tuesday, June 23, 2009
Bonnie Banks and Bonnie Braes
http://peteysplayhouse.blogspot.com-
And here are the words to a song I'll be singing when we all pull up to Beagle Land!!! It's kind of a sad song for broken-hearted lovers -- but since Gabbi and I live so far apart, there's always a bit of nostalgia in our hearts.
By yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes,
Where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomond.
Where me and my true love were ever wont to gae
On the bonnie, bonnie banks O' Loch Lomond.
O ye'll tak' the high road and I'll tak' the low road,
An' I'll be in Scotland afore ye;
But me and my true love will never meet again
On the bonnie, bonnie banks O' Loch Lomond.
'Twas there that we parted in yon shady glen,
On the steep, steep side O' Ben Lomon',
Where in purple hue the Hieland hills we view,
An' the moon comin' out in the gloamin'
The wee birdies sing and the wild flow'rs spring,
And in sunshine the waters are sleepin';
But the broken heart it kens nae second spring,
Tho' the waefu' may cease frae their greetin'.

A Theory about the Wheelie-Napping READ BELOW FOR OUR BLOGAVERSARY POST
Our Second Blogaversary!!!!!
I'm Jake, a 5 and a half year old wire fox terrier of a rather philosophical nature. My brother, Just Harry, who Mom and Dad rescued after Katrina hit South Florida in 2005 before moving off to devastate the Gulf Coast, is about 2 and a half. He's like the kid who sits in the back of the classroom and says "who me?" when the teacher calls on him.
We were ecstatic when we got immediate comments from pups who have since become such a big big part of our lives: Gussie, Jackson, Butchy and Snickers, Lenny, Asta from Up Over, Asta from Down Under, Maggie (that was before Mitch), Bussie, and Ruby Bleu!!!

Indeed, who knew we'd have H.C. Bird???

Message from the Heron-Cam
Jake
Dear Friends,
This is Jake and Just Harry's Heron-Cam. I just learned of the terrible tragedy perpetuated by a sinister and evil-looking B I R D. Please, please, please realize that, although we are both of the avian group, I was in no way involved and wish only the quickest recovery for Myrna and Gilbert's baby son.
I was enjoying a little bit of down time, but in light of this terrible emergency, I have decided that I will do my best to search the skies and the favorite watering holes of similar long-legged birds and see what I can find.
After that eerie ransom note, there is no doubt that this was a malicious act, and not a simple misguided stork delivery.
I have also asked Jake and Just Harry's wheelie look alikes, Maigret and Clouseau, to put their thinking caps on and see what they can come up with.
Your saddened friend,
Heron-Cam

A Rainbow, A Turtle, and a Quick Woof!!!
Mom's been traveling and working hard, and trying to make sense of some sad things that have happened -- but that's no excuse for neglecting what really matters -- keeping up with all of our friends. So we apologize and hope you all remember us. We did see that our fellow Floridians, the Key West Collies, just celebrated their second blogaversary -- and we joined the DWB just a few days after them, on June 20th, 2007. So maybe, if she who controls our lives remembers -- we'll be back to celebrate.
In the meantime, it's been raining and raining here -- which is actually a very good thing because Lake Okeechobee -- the big hole in the map when you look down at an aerial -- which is critical to our water supply -- was getting pretty low. And now, after all the rains, it's just a few feet away from normal. Rain on a spring afternoon often brings rainbows -- and we saw this one a few days ago.We also had some excitement one evening when we discovered a lost turtle on the edge of the golf course. Perhap you remember that we had sniffed out a turtle a few weeks ago, but when we went back to help move him back to the lake, he had disappeared. We don't know if this was the same one -- but Dogdad took us home and then went back and carried him over to the lake so he wouldn't get hurt by any of the cars that speed along the roadways.
And then, OK, and then -- there is us. We have been freshly "plucked," once again revealing wirey ears and polka dot bodies. We each lost about two pounds of fur in the process and Mom discovered that we weren't the roly poly porky dogs she thought.
