More Fungus Anyone??? Anyone???

The last evening of our stay in Vancouver, we went to a Sukiyaki restaurant with Miss Sunshade and Jaffaman's mom and beau. There are about 137 Japanese restaurants in the Greater Vancouver area -- and this one is quite unique. http://www.303-posh.com/

The restaurant specializes in what is known as a Japanese Hot Pot. You order all kinds of thinly sliced meat, vegetables, noodles, and rice -- all of which go into a delicious broth little by little -- and you wind up eating more than you'd ever think possible.

Some of the items we had were familiar: beef and pork, yams and zucchini, bok choy, and white, black, and enoki mushrooms. But then there were a few new things to try, including something called black fungus. It tastes kind of like the seaweed in various Japanese dishes and, despite the name, was quite good. We'd go back for more, if only it wasn't so far away!!!

MMMMM...short people food.

Controversy surrounds Japanese food in our fambly.

Muzzer loves it...she would eat Japanese food every day...one of her favorite things in NYC is that the hotel where she and the Dad stay has a "Japanese Breakfast Buffet!" She says seaweed is great in the morning. (?)

But the Dad says that you have to be a short person to really enjoy Japanese food. So we are saving this photo to show him when he gets home! Your DogDad is NOT SHORT, and he looks happy.

Maybe you have made a geat step forward in the marriage of our pawrents.

Thanks guys, you are wonderful!

Based on your comments, is this to imply that our NinaGirl should look for a short mate? And ... by the way ... we've seen icky black fungus in old showers' grout and even ickier seaweed at the beach (last night) ... but we still LOVE Japanese food. We just don't think about what we're eating. (What your peeple ate looked beyond delicious! And now Moma's gonna be on the lookout for a Japanese breakfast while in NYC)

Yummers

Our pinkies had a similar dish when they were in Tokyo. They love Japanese food too. So healthy.

That looked like a lot of fun and your humans didn't look like they were eating fungus!
Anyway is that not sort of what yoghurt is!
We'll try eating anything, especially Martha, whether it is edible or not!
Enjoy the rest of your vacation

Oh we just read your comment - our mum is coming in and out from the hot garden for respite - we are right here beside the computer the entire time!
Only a mad woman would be out in the heat at this time of day.
Our Dad just loves his golf and your comment gave us a great idea for going with him.
How happy he would be to see his beloved golf course full of holes like our own grass.
Oh thankyou boys, just in time for Father's Day - the perfect gift idea!

The black fungus might be really tasty, but they could probably get more peeps to try it if they just called it something else...ANYthing else! WE would try it, but then we eat anything that doesn't eat us first!
