We saw it!!

2:45 am, December 21, 2010:

Dogdad whispers to Mom, "Shall we get up?"

Mom whispers back to Dogdad, "Mmm?" "Will there be ice cream?"

And before we knew it, the humans were up, with robes on, asking us if we were coming too.

Dogdad reconnoitered outside in the front of our house and decided what we needed to see could be better seen from the fenced back patio. So out we went.

And this is what we saw (and Dogdad photographed):

Or at least I saw it, having sat down quietly while my brother, even in the dark, scurried around sniffing under the plants. (He is such a terrier!!!)

It was a spectacular sight, even so far away.

After a chilly while, we went back inside and sure enough, out came the ice cream -- and a lick of peanut butter for each of us.

And back to sleep for all.

Jake

Cool! We wouldn't have been able to see anything (even if we HAD been able to get Mom out of bed) because we've been getting TONS of snow. (Not that we're complaining, mind you...) So we'll enjoy the sight through your picture!

Hey Jake, nice to meet you! Our mom took us outside at 11 pm Pacific time last night to see the moon partly shaded. We were busy sniffing the ground while she was looking up.

Wow! I didn't know Lunar Eclipse looked like that. It's beautiful and I appreciate Dogdad's and Mom's enthusiasm...You won't be able to drag these two out of the bed at night even if you were a Bull-Mastiff!

Thanks for sharing:)

We would have been up and at it, well we were, so to speak, but it was chucking it down and totally cloudy so a total no-no from here :)

Shame cos we are always up well before european time of 7.30. Now would we have got up at your time? I don't think so.

Very pretty! Mom is not a night time person(if it is dark outside she is asleep!), so she misses out on these things - and so do we!

Nice photo, you seemed to have a very good view of it from your home. The ice cream and pb sounds like fun, too. Might as well, since everyone was up anyway. Couldn't rouse anyone at our house. Slug-a-beds is what I called them, missing all the fun outside. Thanks for sharing the picture!

Merry Christmas,
William Tell
