We found this photo on Asta's blog -- and think it tells the story more than any words can express.
Being a bit of a dinosaur, I remember, before the towers were built, grousing about how they were going to ruin the New York skyline that I had grown to love when I lived there during my college years. Never could I or anyone else imagine how those towers would come to bear such a heavy burden and even in their demise remain standing in our minds as a symbol of what unites us in spirit.
Is there anyone who does not still see those towers when they look at the New York skyline? Or remember the valor of those firefighters and and dogs who braved their lives to rescue all they could?
We remember. We can't allow ourselves not to.

Beautiful picture. It speaks for itself. Thanks for posting it and your own story in relation to the towers.
That's a wonderful picture. Being a dinosaur myself, I never exactly got used to the Twin Towers as part of the skyline, even though they were there for half my life, give or take. Now, of course, they are conspicuous by their absence every time we approach the city and I guess they always will be, no matter what they put there. If they ever get it together to put anything there. We knew more than one firefighter who perished there. There's no chance we'll ever forget.
None of us will be the same..a lot of innocence was lost that day
I love you sweet fwiends and i think we have the same thoughts

Two "seminal" events for our generation, the assassination of JFK and the attack on the Twin Towers. Shared horror and sorrow shaping out lives. We cannot forget the tragedy or the bravery.

You are right...something is missing. Whenever I see the skyline, when I was there is July cruising around the Hudson, when I see some tv show depicting NY...something is always missing. I know the Freedom Tower will one day stand in its place, but it won't be the same. A little piece of all of us was lost when we lost the WTC.

Yes, I remember when the towers went up. And I still see them when I look at photos of NYC. There are not words.

I will never forget that day as I was sitting in one of my lectures (with Sunshade), the entire school went silent, except for TV broadcasts....
Thank you for the post, we will never forget.
