Training Mom

Yesterday we were here alone with Mom, doing what we often do while she works: running up and down the hallway and barking our heads off at the slightest noise from outside: car next door, UPS truck, neighbor pounding on his roof, FEDEX truck, people talking, someone walking behind our backyard...

This time, when we had found a gazillion things to bark at over the course of the afternoon, she got up from her chair and rattled off a series of her stop barking words -- but in an exceptionally loud and insulting tone:

LEAVE IT!!

ENOUGH!!!

QUIET!!

And when none of that worked, she got in our faces and pointed her index finger (kind of the way Bill Clinton does when he wants to make a point) at us and shouted JAKE SIT!!! HARRY SIT!!!

Well, usually we comply -- but you know, this time she was so *&^$#@ annoying that I looked at JH and he looked at me and we turned tail, walked away, and went upstairs to sit on our favorite steps until she calmed down,

That'll show her!!!

[Mom here: They had such a human reaction, they cracked me up and I still laugh when I think about how they looked just walking away from that irritating situation.]

Yeah! You guys got it right. Just gnore them. Only problem...not too many treats that way.

Heron cam did a good job in Dee See, not so good in New Yawk. But muzzer showed her 'preciation by letting him share the sushi. Hope he enjoyed it. Two small females and one Heron = $100. worth of sushi. I didn't give him much of a tip!

Quite right!!! That is exactly what we do if anyone dares to raise their voice to us. What is it with these humans - they seem to think that they are the boss of us!!

Teehee. But oh. Poor pals. Doesn't your Mom know it's xtremely rude to go point digits?? No wonder you turned tail. Mom yells "Eric stop speaking" to me when I start barking in my window sentry box...she thinks that's funny for some reason. Why????

Uh-oh........maybe you should have a wee Scottish holiday till the Mama calms down?
Saying that, ours gets crazy when we bark, usually Rosie starts it and then we all join in!
So anyway, here we are apologising for our lengthy absence.....but we're on the case tonight, just visiting all our sweethearts before posting and then hope to get more visiting done later.......missed you Boyz.....specially my wee studmuffin ;o)

It is good to see you are training your hooman. They can be slow learners but it is worth the patience and effort we put in to get them right under our paws!

What on earth does your Mom expect? After all, you were just living up to the title of your blog!

They just don't get the importance of barking. We get yelled at all the time for barking. The big red guy makes more noise than we do.

Thanks Boyz for visiting my blog today! I get the name Ina from a dear lady who helped raise my Mom -- her Mom (my grand) had gone thru hard times and my Mom just loved this Ina, who was from Scotland...in fact she loved my mom so much she wanted to adopt her by my Gram said NO!!!

Glad your Mom had a fab time in Anchorage.. and seeing McKinley (Denali) was definitely a plus! Hope she took a flightseeing tour around it... not to be missed...

I think your blog is fun! I use all the same words around my house to get my 3-Pack to calm down (a waste of time!)... will be back to see what's doing in South Florida!! PS I was in Tampa to watch the Yankees do spring training at Legends Field in '06. Had a blast!! xoxo

Great idea training your humom! Maybe if you try what my humom did today for my little sis Border Collie when she kept jumping up... she waited for her to lay down, then gave her a treat. So with your humom you'd wait till she was quiet, then just slobber her with kisses! tee hee hee....

Most impressive. I would try that too but I don't really have anywhere to walk off to.
