Grillin' and Chillin'

After all the rain, we had a beautiful few hours for Dogdad to fire up the grill. What's for dinner? Elephant ears?
Nope, corn ears.
Mom's favorite mussenda -- yummy-looking after all that rain?Nope, ribeye steaks.

We're ready!!! What's taking so long?

Hummm. Something smells good!!!

But this story does not have a happy ending. Actually, it rarely does, but hope springs eternal in our two wirey hearts...
You can't see them -- but they're up there eating that steak and corn and purple potato salad and roasted tomato caprese and ice cream with roasted berries (for those of you who know her, Ina Garten is a favorite with our Mom). And do we get any. Nope. Never. How sad.
So it's time to chill and dream of kibble a la mode and wonder what life is all about.

How very sad.

That food looked delicious! Hmmm, reminds me that we got the grill all ready down on Hilton Head and then it rained so Mommy had to make Ina's Tequila Lime Chicken on the indoors grill. She's an Ina fan, too. Did you see her show when she had a birthday party for a dog on the beach? I used to play with that guy when I was a puppy. Wonder what happened to MY invitation???

Your pal,

What a shame for you guys!!! did you at least check out the drip pan under the grill, usually lots of good tastes in there?

Your elephant ears are gorgeous.

That is So Sad!!! I will send AirFiona to you the next time Mom and Dad have steaks. Because Dad ALWAYS sneaks us little bits (and then Mom sneaks us a little more). I think it's pretty cruel of your parents to tease you like that and then give you kibble. You might want to call the ASPCA. I think they handle cases like yours. Or maybe it's the ACLU. One of the two. Or maybe both.

Hi there, Jake and Harry
GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA
Thank you for commenting on our blog...that way we can connect and become friends. As you have probably discovered, we love making new friends.
You two are really cute and we look forward to getting to know you better.
By the way, here in SA the "Grill" you talk about is called a "Braai" - a shortform of "Braaivleis"...meaning "Grilled meat". It looked really yummy!
Lots of licks

We know the pain of which you speak, Boyz! We hardly ever get any steak! Ok, Mom says we are lying! We were hoping she wouldn't catch us! Would you like us to mail you some the next time we have it? It might be a tad dried out by the time it gets there!

My mom sometimes brings her food outside before eating it too and the smokey box makes it smell delicious! I like to watch and make sure no un-invited guests help themselves just like you boyz were doing. I usually get some handouts though. I think you boyz should re-negotiate your compensation package if you ask me!

Not a crumb? How neat are your people? Do they never miss their mouth and drop a morsel under the table???

A friend of ours keeps a bowl of kibble next to her plate at the table, and hands pieces to her doggie when she begs. Silly girl, she thinks she's getting table food that way. Everyone's happy. We wires are much too smart for that trick, though.
