Red, White, and Blue

...Or as the French say, Bleu, Blanc, Rouge.

Here are a few things that make our Mom and Dogdad happy, so we thought we'd share them.

First, the Blue: A local art museum has been showing an exhibit of George Rodrigue's paintings of his iconic Blue Dog. Yesterday, he was at the museum for a reception and book signing, and Mom and Dogdad met him and bought one of his books for children: "Why is the Blue Dog Blue?" For those who don't know much about him, here's a link to his site: http://www.georgerodrigue.com/

He's been very active in the work to restore his native Louisiana and New Orleans, post Katrina.

Then the White: One of Mom's favorite plants, mussenda -- seen in the photo of us on a bench a while back -- hasn't recovered as yet from her winter bare-limbed season. While Mom hasn't given up on her yet, she bought a younger version, yesterday.

And finally, the Red: We're a month into baseball season and hadn't seen a St. Louis Cardinals game until LAST NIGHT when the Cardinals played the Cubs and WGN, the TV Superstation from Chicago, carried the game here . The Cardinals won with a walk-off home run in the 11th inning. So Dogdad went to sleep happy -- all the happier because two more games will be televised this weekend.

So there you have it: Blue, White, Red -- some of the things our folks love best -- besides us.

Hi, friends!
Thanks for sharing all those things that make your mom and dad happy!
We are Yankee fans (ooops!)and we can't watch all their games here! So when we can watch them we really enjoy the games no matter if they win or loose!
I hope you have a great weekend

Hi there!

Well, of course I'm blue biased.
LOL!
I know George Rodrigue's Blue Dog paintings. Found them when looking for a self image for my birthday last year & think they are great. Hadn't seen the very colourful one you show on post, will probably have to borrow that one...

The Sunday Morning show on CBS here in the US featured George Rodrigue this morning, and showed the book Mom bought on Friday night, which he signed. They also talked about all the money has raised post-911 and post-Katrna with his paintings.

He has an exhibition at the New Orleans Museum of Art.

We aren't much for baseball, but our dad watches it sometimes. We just want to grab the ball away from the pitcher! That blue dog guy is very cool! It's really nice that he's helping to rebuild New Orleans! Those are some really pretty flowers. We hope your mom's plant recovers!

I'm liking the red white and blue theme and whay a a pair of handsome hounds you are in you bandanas! Hope they are not restrictive to barking a lot ?

Mom has seen Blue Dog when she has been across the big pee and love him (not as much as me obviously) so is interested to look at the blue dog site. Me wondering if Blue dog is a distant relative to Blue in Dreaming Spires??????

Goodness.. a blue dog.. I was a little freaked out for a second but reading the website I have decided he is a NICE blue dog hehehe

Mum thought the white flowers were very pretty.. I just thought they looked tasty!

We don't get much baseball over here, we get boring sports like Cricket (YAWN!!) but thankfully Mum thinks it's boring too so no-one forces me to watch it! Baseball looks much more exciting!!

love, licks and happy tail-wags,
