Enjoying a Day in May

A fox tail palm that was just a puppy when we planted it, now soars to the sky, enjoying the afternoon sun...
And, one sign of the subtle season changes in South Florida, our frangi pangi that blooms briefly in May. The rest of the year, it's just a trunk and bare limbs that defy imagining it will ever bloom again. It smells really good! But what smells even better? Burgers and corn on the grill.
The corn looks like a charred mess ... but the inside is delicious...
What's taking so long???

Hurry up!!!
Uh oh, noises outside.

Just Harry, you watch the grill. I'll keep an eye on the outside.

It's good to be the dog.

Very good.
And now it's time for a snooze inside...

Butt to butt...

  1. What a great day! Burgers AND corns on the grill! Too bad our mom hasn't figured out how to light our grill! Our dad changed it over to natural gas so you don't stick the lighter in the place where it says to stick it. We hope she figures it out one of these days!

You two boyz sure have it made! But I guess you knew that already!

  3. Oh I wish we could have a barbecue in Aberdeen. I can almost smell the burgers through the computer. Can I come round, 'cos I may be an old dog before we have a day when it's warm enough here to grill outside.....

Oh sorry, Gail says it VERY RUDE to invite yourself round to people's homes. It's so hard to learn all the rules isn't it?

  4. We can smell your corn and burgers all the way here. Mom says she would love to sink her teeth into some GOOD corn - the stuff here is lousy. She misses her East coast fresh picked summer corn.

That frangi pangi is so pretty, too bad it doesn't last longer.

  10. If only Wilf could read - you'd have a dog doing a starving orphan routine on your doorstep in no time at all. Your post seems to have got lost.

  14. Sigh..Archie is ROLLING over the frangi pangi and he thinks that the boys made that name up..I keep telling it is REAL but every time I say the name he cracks up again... Listen about your last post..We are so distraught over the oil and the animals and the greed and the NERVE to hire a company to boost BP's ratings ect ect that we 4 have declared a moratorium on the news because we just can not take anymore.....How long can this go on?? Sorry a little rant there!!! Love A+A

  15. Dear Jake and Just Harry,
You are so right about the unreliable secretary we are stock with!personally we think she takes on more than she can handle at any given time and needs to be more organised. but we don't see it happening! sigh!!We LOVED ur post. Such beautiful pics of u guys laughing and napping and altogether having a grrrt time.and what a lovely, lively garden!mummy loves that stone pathway.
BBQ!SIGH SIGH!...daddy does it so well. but he seems to have forgotten all about it!must make him read your post.
on a more serious note... Joan has said everything we feel about this oil-spill incident so eloquently.
Mummy gets very restless when she reads about it. that pic of the heron is heart-rending
Btw, Mummy says thanks for the link.next time she goes and buys some glasses, she'll remember:'the less there is between the wine and the palate, the better'
